There are sub-genres usually to Thrillers, each along with their own different characters. Some sub-genres include:

    Psychological Thriller- Is defined as "A specific sub-genre of the wide-ranging thriller genre. However, this genre often incorporates elements from the mystery and drama genre in addition to the typical traits of the thriller genre. Also, occasionally this genre will border into the, also wide-ranging horror genre.

    Psychology involves the mental and internal process of the body and mind. In a psychological thriller, the behaviours of the characters reflect this.
    Typical characters of a psychological thriller film can include:

    Dr. Hannibal Lecter is a character in a series of suspense novels by Thomas Harris. Lecter was introduced in the 1981 thriller novel Red Dragon as a forensic psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer.






    Michael J. Scofield, portrayed by Wentworth Miller, is a fictional character and one of the two protagonists of the American television series Prison Break.








    Jame Gumb is a character and the primary antagonist of Thomas Harris's 1988 novel The Silence of the Lambs and its 1991 film adaptation, in which he is played by Ted Levine.






    Marion Crane is a fictional character created by Robert Bloch in his 1959 novel Psycho, and portrayed by Janet Leigh in its 1960 film of the same name directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
