Title Sequence analysis.

Nerve

Beginning with a solid black background, a loading symbol is inserted over the top. This is done as it fits with the theme of the film and includes something that occurs to most of the target audience every single day. This also hints that the film's theme is social media, foreshadowing what happens within the narrative slightly.

The directors are shown firstly due to the fact that they are the most important within the making of the film. Another reason for this is because if the director, directors are well known and popular to the demographic it creates more excitement.

After this we see the names of the people behind the making of the film such as the screenplay designer, editor and music designer.

Within some aspects of the title sequence, the background behind the text is shown to be plain black. This is to enhance the colourful and animated titles that appear. When the background is more interesting within the title sequence, the writing tends to be more basic such as black or white. This is because within these aspects, the focus is aimed to be on the background. Finally within the title sequence, both the background and the font match together in order to make the slide interesting whilst also letting the demographic read the information on screen.

Many different transitions have been used within the title sequence in order to move from  one name to another. Most of the time a quick cut is used as it is the most time efficient, and a title sequence is short. However other times it is much more interesting for the viewer. An example of this is when they show the title for 'Based on the Novel by' they then scroll down, revealing a page from the book quickly to then have a quick transition to the producers. This is done to engage the audience, along with many more examples.

Finally after all of this, the main actors are shown, beginning with the main two protagonists. Within this film because there is two main characters, they both appear at the same time.

Throughout this entire title sequence, the font is the same throughout, however is edited differently with different colours or backdrops. This enables a wide variety of different frames within the title sequence, therefore not making it boring for the demographic to watch. This font is used throughout in bold as well as in capital letters in order to stand our to the audience, this draws their attention to the writing and enables recognition for the people behind the making of the film. This text is also centred within the middle of the frame within some parts of the title sequence as it enhances the importance of the people behind the film.

After this, the production companies are revealed.

Finally, we are able to see the title 'NERVE' in big and bold letters, this is put last as it creates excitement for the audience as they know that the film will be the next thing to appear. This title appears over a plain black background with numerous luminous colours, this is done as it enhances the title and makes it more visible to the audience. This is used as the title is one of the most important pieces of text within the title sequence and to a director, is compulsory to be seen.

The first colour used to show the title is an illumines yellow.

After this a bright green colour is used.

This then fades into a green mixed with blue, used as a transition colour.

After this, the colour transfers into a deep blue.

This then turns into another transition colour, dark blue.

Finally, the colour purple appears and begins to slowly fade out, revealing the black background.

The music used throughout the title sequence is not one that is typical to a thriller film. The upbeat music can be related to as 'teenage music', this is used as it relates to the target audience. This music used does not connote that the film is a thriller film, it intact does the opposite. Due to it not evoking any feelings of suspense towards the audience it evokes a different emotion, excitement. This highlights that the film is modern and exciting.
