Lottery Ticket- 5 minute film idea.

Scene 1

INT, Living area, NIGHT.

An argument between a dad and his eldest son. A variety of shots used including the POV shots from the daughters perspective. The two characters don't find out that she is watching until Dad goes to hit his son.


Child 1:
 Dad, you need to stop living in this fantasy. Our lives will not get any better, just give it up already.
Dad:
 I am not giving up, I have not been doing this for all these years for nothing. I am not giving it up.
Child 1:
You need to because you're not only ruining your own life but you're pushing me and CHILD2 away.
Dad:
Im trying to do what is best for us.
Child 1:
What's best for us? you're only doing what's best for yourself. Start thinking of others for once. Start acting a little bit like mum did.
Dad:
Don't you dare bring your mother into this, you keep her out.
(Dad goes to hit son)
Child 2:
Daddy stop!
(Dad and his son freeze after realising their daughter was watching. The son goes to see to the daughter while dad picks up his lottery ticket off the floor and goes to turn the TV on.)


Child 1:
Its ok, daddy didn't do anything, see im fine.
Child 2:
Good.
Dad:
(Turns the TV up as the lottery numbers are being read out, sitting impatiently on his sofa.)
Child 1:
 Is that all you care about.
Dad:
I won.
Child 1:
What?
Dad:
 I fucking won. I won CHILD1, I won!
(Playfully shaking CHILD1 in excitement)
Child 1:
(Showing no happiness in his face at all)
Yeah, looks like you hit the jackpot.
(Picks up CHILD2 and begins to leave)


Dad:
Where do you think you're taking my daughter?
Child 1:
Away from the crazy psychopath you're becoming.

Opening credits come on, example of what they appear like below-



  1. The opening credits will be a mix of all the names who are in it, however there will also be the lottery numbers added in short bursts. These short bursts will include the numbers 22, 3, 21, 17, 2 and 8.
  2. The numbers are all linked to his wives murder, however the audience will not know this until later on.
  3. The 22nd of March at exactly 21:17pm, NAMES wife died with two gun shots to the chest and 8 knife wombs. These lottery numbers mean a lot to him and he believes he can win with them.
Scene 2
EXT, Outside NAMES house, DAY.
Two policemen go to NAMES house after one of them have a strong hunch he has done something.


Policeman 1:
(Knocking on door)


Policeman 2:
You've got the wrong house.


Policeman 1:
I haven't, I know this is house.


Policeman 2:
you're wasting our time, just because you have a hunch this guys bad. He wouldn't hurt a fly.


Policeman 1:
You heard his kids.


Policeman 2:
Kids say bullshit all the time. Just leave it for today, we'll question the kids further tomorrow.

(Both policemen leave the house and get in car and drive off.)


Scene 3

INT, Inside a office, NIGHT.

Policeman 1 insists something is wrong with the man, he does a lot of research, finds out about wives murder a long time ago. A montage is shown of him, or a time lapse in this one room putting together clue after clue. And then it stops with him looking at a wall with all the information for his wives murder pointed toward him. This shot then is a match on action with the next.


Scene 4

EXT, Outside NAMES house, NIGHT also INT, House, NIGHT.

Policeman 1 finds himself investigating NAMES house. He is seen looking through the windows and knocking on the door. When he goes into the house to investigate further he comes across a wall with lottery tickets on , all with the same numbers 22, 03, 21, 17, 2 and 8. The policeman picks a lottery ticket off the wall and a close up is seen of him looking at the numbers.

Policeman 1:
(Whilst the close up of the lottery ticket is on)
22nd of March, 21:17pm. 22nd of March, I knew it. I knew it was him.



Dad:
(Comes around the corner with a full bottle of drank alcohol in his hand. He places it on the table next to him so that he can clap)
(Clapping)
Bravo, bravo. You did it, someone actually did it.
Policeman 1:
(Holding hands out in front of him)
Sir, please stop. Just sit down for a second.


Dad:
17, 10, 20, 08, 02, 05.


Policeman 1:
(Beginning to pull gun out)
Mr NAME I advise you to sit down for a second.


Dad:
17, 10, 20, 08, 02, 05.


Policeman 1:
Sir

(Gets interrupted by man repeating numbers)



Dad:
17, 10, 20, 08, 02, 05.


Policeman 1:
Sir I demand you to stop immediately.
Dad:
 17, 10, 20, 08, 02, 05. Play my numbers will you?

(The clock changed to 20:08pm and NAME pulls out a gun and shoots himself in the head once.)




(Everything fades out to black and policeman 1 begins to say a short voiceover.)
Policeman 1:
So I did. I played his numbers for  10 years straight, every single week and I won. Im a millionaire baby.
End credits begin, alike the starting titles they include the numbers shortly popping up. This time however they are NAMES numbers.
