Costumes

Costumes within a film are very important, they tell us not only information about the character that is wearing them, but information about the film itself. When the word 'costume' is used it is mainly associated with fancy dress and halloween costumes etc. However costumes in a film is what ever characters are wearing, and can vary in different types of genre. Our film Saving Grace is of the Thriller Genre, meaning the film is intended to make the audience inquisitive and possibly scared, however the scary association with costumes is not what we use in our film, as many other films also don't.

Our film is about two teenage girls that go for a night out and things go wrong for the characters. Due to the main characters being females the clothing/costume will be feminine, and the different types of clothes will vary due to the different types of scenes.

The first type of costume our main character Grace wears is a dark navy jumper and black jeans, a casual look which is meant to relate to the audience being teenagers and the casual clothes they wear when at home. When wearing this costume Grace is on the sofa watching television relaxed and on the phone to her friend. She wears the dark coloured clothing to make sure her clothing doesn't stand out and to ensure that her clothing is something of which the audience can relate to. This clothing colour was also convenient due to them being dark, therefore when we took the photo for the Film Poster the clothing blended into the background and Grace herself stood out and grabbed the audiences attention.
